# Settlement & Withdrawals

Withdraw to HyperEVM, HyperCore or Arbitrum with one signed step, close out a borrowing account with stop and settle, and how bad debt is handled.

## Withdrawing

Withdrawals are a single signed step. The Account re-reads live account value, debt and the 4x own-capital rule on every withdrawal and pays out only what is safe, keeping enough to cover owed interest and minimum equity.

There are three withdrawal paths, all signed by the owner wallet:

| Path | Destination |
| -------------------- | ---------------------------------------- |
| `withdraw` | Any HyperEVM address you sign for |
| `withdrawEvmToCore` | Back to a HyperCore address you sign for |
| `withdrawToArbitrum` | USDC on Arbitrum, via Circle CCTP |

Use the maximum value to withdraw everything that is safe to withdraw. If funds are still on HyperCore, move them to the Account on HyperEVM first.

All three paths have been verified with real funds on mainnet.

## Stopping and settling

To close out a borrowing account:

1. The owner signs a **stop request**. The Account enters *Settle Requested* and the execution wallet's trading access is revoked.
2. Positions are closed and funds return to the Account.
3. Anyone can call `settle()`. Debt is repaid from the Account (interest first, then principal), any profit fee is settled, and the Account returns to *Active* with the remainder belonging to the user.

## Bad debt

If, after close-out, the Account still cannot repay its debt, the shortfall is finalized as bad debt and written off against the vault. Any funds later recovered for that account go back to the vault.
